Privacy policy
Last updated 6 October 2026
- Your orders, menus and history are stored on your own tablets and sent directly between them.
- Our servers only help tablets find each other, check subscriptions, and keep encrypted backups for subscribers.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell data.
Who we are
Yes Chef is a kitchen order app for restaurants, available at app.yes-chef.win and as an Android app. In this policy, “we” means the developer of Yes Chef. You can reach us at support@yes-chef.win.
Data that stays on your devices
Everything you enter into Yes Chef is stored in your tablets’ browser storage: your menu, settings, orders (including any names or notes typed on a ticket) and order history. When tablets are paired, this data travels directly between them over your network, encrypted with a key that only your paired tablets have. It does not pass through our servers.
The camera is used only to scan a pairing QR code. The image is processed on the device and never stored or sent anywhere.
Data our servers handle
| What | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Connection details while pairing (IP address, a room identifier, encrypted connection setup messages) | Our relay (relay.yes-chef.win) introduces your tablets so they can connect directly. If it can’t be reached, public relays on the Nostr network are used instead, which see the same kind of details. | Not stored; only passed between your tablets while they connect. |
| Subscription details (Android app): a random device identifier, the device name, the Google Play purchase token, and the subscription’s status and expiry | To check your subscription with Google Play and make sure it’s used on one head tablet at a time. | While you have an account with us; deleted on request. |
| Cloud backups (subscribers who turn them on): your menu, settings and order history | So you can restore everything on a new tablet. Optional: the app asks when you subscribe, and you can switch it off in Settings → Subscription. Backups are encrypted before they are stored, and only your current head tablet can read or write them. | The latest 60 backups; deleted on request. |
| Server logs (IP address, time, request path) | Security and fixing problems. | Kept briefly by our hosting provider. |
Analytics and crash reports
Yes Chef doesn’t collect analytics or crash reports. Each tablet has switches for both in Settings → Privacy, off by default. If we ever add either, nothing will be sent from a tablet unless it’s switched on there, and we’ll update this policy first.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never see your card or billing details. We only receive a purchase token and the subscription status, as described above.
Sheffield, the menu helper
Sheffield gives you instructions to paste into a chat assistant of your choice (for example ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) to turn photos of your menu into a file Yes Chef can import. Anything you share with that assistant is handled by its provider under its own terms. Yes Chef itself sends nothing to any assistant.
Service providers
Our website, relay and servers run on Cloudflare. Subscriptions are handled by Google Play. These providers process data only to run the service for us.
Your choices and rights
- Export or clear all data on a tablet at any time in Settings.
- Delete your subscription record and cloud backups in the app (Settings → Subscription → Delete my cloud data), or by email. See how to delete your data.
- Cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights (such as access or correction). Email us and we’ll help.
Children
Yes Chef is a business tool and isn’t directed at children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
